Dog Health Check

When nine eight-week-old puppies arrived at one of our shelters, like all animals who come to us, their first step was a health check.

Because these pups came from a property overwhelmed with dogs, staff geared up in full protective gear to prevent the spread of illness. Each puppy was carefully examined, including a head-to-tail physical, checks for dental issues, vaccinations for parvo, distemper and kennel cough, treatment for fleas and mites, deworming, scans for ringworm and a weigh-in. It was a busy day, full of hope and love.

Every dog who comes into our care receives a health check like this. These exams are critical to catch contagious disease, injuries, signs of neglect, or underlying health issues, protecting the well-being of each new arrival, and the animals already at the shelter.
