Raccoon Nursery - Wild ARC

The raccoon complex incorporates an intake and exam area with isolation rooms as well as a nursery ward, playroom ward, kitchen, laundry, and storage areas. Baby raccoons are raised in progressively larger enclosures inside until they are eating on their own and are then moved to outdoor habitats in family-sized groups. Here they climb, dig, and develop skills to prepare for life in the wild. In 2018 the outdoor enclosures received new walls to encourage raccoons in care to climb not only with their hands but also with their claws. Further improvements were made in 2019 to secure the double-door entry system on the juvenile enclosure and in 2020 all of the outdoor enclosures received new roofs. Annual maintenance needs include plumbing, electrical, roofing, and septic maintenance and repairs, as well as concrete sterilization and new toys and habitat features that must be changed annually to prevent disease. Sponsorship of these enclosures supports these costs and ensures the patients housed within receive the highest standard of care.

Sponsorship supporters will have their name or that of an honouree displayed on the enclosure for one year and receive a certificate displaying their support.

Your sponsorship qualifies for a charitable tax receipt.
