Deer Pen - Wild ARC
Each year, up to 80 Black-tailed deer are cared for at Wild ARC, with many spending months in one of three Deer Pens. Although it might look like just a fence, the pens are strategically built for height and privacy to ensure that orphaned fawns of the year receive hands-off treatment once their bottle feeding is over.
Each enclosure is designed for a different stage of the fawn’s development, as it transitions through its stages of growth. Injured yearling deer are also cared for in these natural but contained areas. Each year, the three pens require deep cleaning and reseeding, plus barns and hides need upgrades. In 2019 the main barn was upgraded to include four separate indoor enclosures, a double-door system, and better lighting & ventilation. Sponsorship of these areas supports maintenance and upgrades required for such specialized housing needs of these unique patients.
Cage sponsorship supporters will have their name or that of an honouree displayed on the cage for a year and receive a certificate displaying their support.
