One Hour of Behaviour Therapy
Wee six-year-old Journey spent three weeks trapped in a dark and cold shipping cargo container, all the way from China to Prince George.
When Journey came into our care, she was so emaciated you could count her ribs, and she was suffering from liver disease caused by starvation. But her mental torment proved to be far more difficult to overcome than her physical agony.
For a long time, she froze in terror every time she saw a human. We didn’t think we’d be able to save this anguished little cat. But our expert veterinarian behaviorist, Dr. Karen van Haaften took her home, giving up her scarce free time, to work with her tirelessly. Journey slowly overcame her debilitating fear of humans.
Through Behaviour modification therapy, Journey has overcome her trauma. She is comfortable in her own skin, but it was months in the making.
This gift provides one hour of behaviour therapy to an animal that desperately needs it.
