Rescue and recovery care for a day
An island 'breeder' surrendered 17 adults and 4 puppies into BC SPCA care following an animal cruelty investigation. These sweet and innocent dogs were housed in unacceptable living conditions and have some very serious medical issues.
Some dogs needed costly palate surgery, nasal surgery, and oral surgery: eating and breathing is a constant challenge. Several had cherry eye (infection of tear ducts) as well as infected ears. One may need a tail amputation. Surgery costs alone exceeded $13,000.
Rescued animals require extra time, care and usually medical attention.
This gift provides around the clock care for a day, for an animal recovering from a rescue.
